The place to find it is somewhat obscure, though, and it took me far longer than I want to admit to find it. In the status bar, all the way at the bottom of the SSMS window, look for "OVR" (OVR for Overwrite):

On the keypad the "clear" key is the "num lock" key in Windows. Toggle out of num lock mode, and the "0" (zero) key on the keypad is the INS/OVR toggle. If the above methods don’t work for you, you can just pry the Insert key from your computer keyboard. This is an easy method. But, you should not use this way on your laptop. See more
