If your walls are like mine, you will have a room and head full of the white dust from sanding things smooth. While you are sanding, you will want to sand smooth any line left behind from the chair rail.

Once the rails are done, you can weather the whole area, masking the rails as required. Add ash, grime and engine oil (painted effects) afterwards as required.
