WebbPeripheral pulmonic stenosis (PPS), also referred to as peripheral pulmonary stenosis or pulmonary branch stenosis, is a narrowing within one or more branches of the pulmonary arteries that manifests on physical exam as a systolic ejection murmur in infants. This murmur is often an incidental finding in neonates. WebbPhysiologic PPS may therefore be a clinically important differential in newborn camelids with systolic heart murmurs. As in children, this narrowing may resolve during the first months of life. Further studies are warranted to more completely characterize this flow disturbance and related morphology in camelids as well as other domesticated species.
